Romaine Robert, son of Emil E. and Iola (Bahlmann) Buchholz was born November 8, 1940, at home in rural Waverly. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter’s Evangelical and Reformed (now known as Faith United Church of Christ) in Tripoli. After completing his 8th grade education, Romaine started farming with his parents on their dairy farm. In March of 1963, he joined the Iowa Army National Guard and served for 6 years. On July 9th, 1967, he was united in marriage with Karen Leggett in Waverly. At this time the couple started dairy farming on his parents farm. In 1973, they bought the farm across the road where his son now lives. Romaine retired from farming in 2005, and his sons took over the farming responsibilities. He was a life-time member of Faith United Church of Christ. Romaine enjoyed attending tractor pulls and watching his sons pull the “Bad Kitty”, but most especially he enjoyed time spent with his family, children, and grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Karen of rural, Waverly, Romaine is survived by his two sons, Brian (Angie) Buchholz, and Brad (Leanne) Buchholz both of rural Waverly; one daughter, Brenda (Dean) Shinstine of rural Waverly; six grandchildren, Shawn Buchholz, Shane Buchholz fiancé Hannah Mixer, Jamie Buchholz, Derick Buchholz, Hannah Buchholz, and Ashley (Jordan) Penrod; one soon to be great-grandchild; one sister, Carol (Edward) Brandt of Waverly; and two brothers, Darrel (Janice) Buchholz of Waverly, and Roger Buchholz of Frederika.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and parents-in-law.
